Trukai Industries presents over K500, 000 to Team PNG

Trukai Industries presented a cheque of over K500,000 to Team PNG in support of their participation in the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The raised funds were part of Team PNG’s biggest fundraiser – the Trukai Fun Run. Trukai Industries has been the major naming rights sponsor of this event since 2000.

The Trukai Fun Run involved the auctioning of the 2023 Trukai Fun Run shirts to business houses and government entities and ended with the event itself, which took place in nine centres in PNG in August this year. With the support of host and retail partners, 50,000 Trukai Fun Run t-shirts were sold nationwide.

Trukai Industries CEO Alan Preston described their association with PNGOC as a legacy partnership. He explained that his team had worked alongside PNGOC as members of the Trukai Fun Run Committee for almost 12 months and was proud of this achievement through a combined effort that has resulted in half a million kina raised for Team PNG.

“As the Trukai Fun Run is Team PNG’s biggest fundraiser we would like to thank everyone who has helped in making this a success. We know these funds raised will go a long way in assisting them participate in global sporting arenas especially with the upcoming Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands. We would like to wish them all the best,” said Preston.

Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee President, Sir. John Dawanincura extended his heartfelt gratitude towards Trukai Industries for the tremendous contribution to Team PNG in preparation for the games next month. In his word of thanks, Sir John mentioned that Trukai’s contributions throughout the years has continued to inspire Team PNG and has elevated them to reach new heights in sports.

“Trukai’s commitment to our cause goes far beyond the financial support they provide. They share our dreams and our vision for a stronger and more prosperous future for our athletes, our nation”, said Sir John.

He reiterated that Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee and Team PNG were looking forward to maintaining the relationship with Trukai in order to work towards inspiring and uniting Papua New Guinea through sporting excellence and success.

Team PNG is preparing to depart for Solomon Islands with pride and dignity to represent Papua New Guinea through sports at the forefront of the Pacific Islands. With Trukai Industries’ support, Team PNG is ready and equipped to give thaheir best in the 2023 Pacific Games and do Papua New Guinea proud.
