Trukai Supports major hospital with rice
PNG’s leading rice company, Trukai Industries Limited has donated four tonnes of rice to four major hospitals around the country to assist them with food supply during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Port Moresby General Hospital, Angau Memorial Hospital, Goroka and Mt Hagen hospitals all receive a tonne of rice each this week.
The company’s Marketing Manager, Maryanne Tom said the donation is part of the company’s corporate responsibility.
“Despite these challenging times, we are happy that as a business we are able to continue our community programs in giving back to the communities in which we live and operate in.
“Our hospitals need our support to help them get through these very challenging and unprecedented times”, she said.
“One thing for sure that we are very proud of at Trukai is our strong community support”.
“We started supporting Port Moresby General Hospital last year in April during the first lockdown with monthly rice donations and we are continuing this support.
“We also provide similar support to St John Ambulance in Port Moresby to help with catering purposes for their volunteers to ensure there they continue to provide critical health care and services for our people”, said Tom.
Port Moresby General Hospital CEO, Dr Paki Molumi expressed gratitude towards Trukai Industries for the timely support to cater for COVID patients.
“I thank Trukai Industries for the continuous support. Certainly, this further assistance will be able to feed over 50 COVID patients admitted at Port Moresby General Hospital and 30 at Rita Flynn. We also support our staff that are infected with COVID and isolated with food rations and Trukai rice is included in that support”, said Dr Paki Molumi.
Other hospitals also thank Trukai Industries Limited for the timely support during the pandemic.
